Angkor Resources Identifies Third Drill Prospect on Block VIII Oil & Gas License in Cambodia

Angkor Resources Corp. (TSXV: ANK) announced the results of its North Bokor seismic program, confirming a third anticlinal dome structure within its Block VIII boundaries in Cambodia. This discovery follows the identification of closed anticline structures in South Bokor and Central Bokor, adding a third potential target for oil and gas drilling in the coming year. The company’s subsidiary, EnerCam Resources Co. Cambodia Ltd., is advancing exploration to prove the first onshore hydrocarbon reservoir in Cambodia.

The North Bokor structure presents a notable difference from the Central and South Bokor prospects, as the mapped regional unconformity surface is found at significantly shallower depths. The crest is located between 150-200 milliseconds two-way-time (TWT) below the surface, translating to approximately 300-400 meters below the valley floor. While seismic data does not confirm a closed structure, management is confident based on surrounding physical features—hills to the west and east—that the anticline will prove closed, following the general fold trend of the other prospects.

Keith Edwards, technical manager for EnerCam, noted that the proximity of the regional unconformity surface to the surface will facilitate drilling to deeper targets in the western half of Block VIII. The South Bokor and Central Bokor sub-basins have identified closed anticline structures with approximately 48 and 60 square kilometers of closure, respectively, beneath the regional unconformity. This development is significant for Cambodia, as proving a commercial hydrocarbon reservoir would define the nation's first onshore hydrocarbon resource. Angkor Resources, through its subsidiary EnerCam, holds an onshore oil and gas license covering approximately 4,095 square kilometers in Block VIII, located in the southwest quadrant of Cambodia. The company has removed parks and protected areas from the license to focus on exploration.

Angkor Resources is also involved in mineral exploration through its subsidiary Angkor Gold Corp., holding two mineral exploration licenses in Cambodia with copper and gold prospects. Additionally, its Canadian subsidiary, EnerCam Exploration Ltd., has been engaged in oil and gas production in Saskatchewan since 2022, with carbon capture and gas conservation projects aimed at reducing emissions. The company’s efforts align with long-term commitments to environmental and social projects and cleaner energy solutions across jurisdictions.
