Annovis Bio Reports Buntanetap Reduces Inflammation and Strengthens Neuronal Health in Alzheimer’s Patients

Annovis Bio (NYSE: ANVS) announced new results from its Phase 2/3 clinical study demonstrating that its lead drug candidate, buntanetap, reduces key inflammatory biomarkers and improves neuronal integrity in patients with Alzheimer’s disease. The data, released by the late-stage clinical drug platform company, showed lower levels of IL-5, IL-6, S100A12, IFN-γ, and IGF1R in treated patients compared to placebo, along with reduced neurofilament light chain (NFL), a marker of neuronal damage. These findings suggest that buntanetap may have disease-modifying effects by targeting multiple pathways involved in neurodegeneration.

“These new biomarker data confirm buntanetap’s multi-targeted mechanism and validate our earlier preclinical and clinical results, advancing our confidence in its potential to deliver meaningful therapeutic benefit for patients,” said Maria Maccechini, CEO of Annovis Bio. The company is developing therapies for neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
