Licensed massage therapist Terry Johnson proudly announces the grand opening of Balanced Wellness Massage Therapy in the Salon and Spa Galleria South Cooper, located in Arlington, Texas. Johnson's mission is to help people feel better, both mentally and physically.
"Massage is very therapeutic," Johnson said. "People often think of massage as something simple—pressure, muscle, relief. But it's so much more than that." With three years of experience, Johnson learned her techniques while attending Tarrant County College and perfected her skills while working overseas. "I learned during my time in Thailand that it was never just about the muscles," she said. Her teacher taught her that "the body doesn't open through force. It opens through trust."
The first time Johnson watched her teacher at work, she noticed something unusual: the teacher never broke contact with her patient. There were no abrupt stops, just a seamless flow. "She explained that when you break your stroke, the body wakes up again—like someone tapping you on the shoulder just as you begin to drift into sleep," Johnson said. "But when the touch flows without interruption, the nervous system softens. The mind lets go. That's when real change begins."
That philosophy became the foundation of her work. When clients visit for a session, she takes her time, warming the body slowly and intentionally. As the body relaxes, Johnson gradually works deeper. "Because the tension is no longer offering resistance, she can reach deeper layers without causing pain or guarding. What feels like depth isn't force—it's access," she explained. "And all the while, my hands never lose connection. Each stroke flows into the next, creating a rhythm that your body begins to follow. Many clients tell me they lose track of time or feel like they've drifted somewhere between sleep and waking."
According to Johnson, that's where the real work happens—not just in the muscles, but in the nervous system. "By the end of the session, it's not just that your body feels better. It feels reset," she said. "That's the difference between a massage and an experience your body remembers."
Balanced Wellness Massage Therapy is currently accepting new clients by appointment only.
