BioUtah has opened early bird registration for its 2025 Utah Life Sciences Summit, scheduled for November 12 at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center. The event, presented by Mayer Brown, offers discounted rates until October 17 and is expected to attract over 500 attendees from the state's growing life sciences community.

The summit will feature headline speakers including Melissa Holyoak, Commissioner of the Federal Trade Commission; Michelle Tarver, MD, PhD, Director of the FDA's Center for Devices and Radiological Health; Peter Marks, MD, former head of the FDA's Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research; and Carter Dredge, Executive Director of the Intermountain Health Institute. Utah's life sciences sector has emerged as one of the nation's fastest-growing hubs, contributing $22.6 billion to the state's GDP and supporting approximately 180,000 jobs. Kelvyn Cullimore, president and CEO of BioUtah, noted that the summit brings together "groundbreaking startups" and "established industry leaders" for "a day of discovery, collaboration, and inspiration."

The program includes dedicated networking during lunch and subject-specific tracks covering workforce, market access, regulatory and quality, and legal issues. BioUtah will also present awards to individuals and companies for their contributions to the life sciences.

The lineup of federal regulators and healthcare leaders underscores the summit's focus on policy and innovation. Holyoak, a Utahn, brings expertise in consumer protection and healthcare market competition. Tarver will hold a virtual FDA Town Hall discussion on the agency's policy priorities. Marks, who oversaw expansion of cell and gene therapies and helped establish Operation Warp Speed, will address biologics regulation. Dredge, a global healthcare thought leader, will discuss novel solutions to complex healthcare problems.

Cullimore emphasized that whether attendees focus on medical device manufacturing, diagnostics, or biopharmaceuticals, they will find relevant and engaging content. The summit aims to foster collaboration across all segments of Utah's life sciences ecosystem.
