Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein Announces New Film 'I Had An Affair With My Husband' and Free Ebook Giveaway

Bestselling author and award-winning filmmaker Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein has announced a special screening for her new film, 'I Had An Affair With My Husband,' to be held Wednesday, July 1 at 6 pm at Basie Center Cinemas Theatre in Red Bank, New Jersey. The event is free and open to the public. The film, releasing in late June 2026, tells the story of a married couple navigating an unusual dynamic: the wife falls in love with a new voice her husband has developed, leading to an improved intimate life but also intense jealousy from the husband toward his own voice. The couple eventually seeks therapy to address the disconnect between the husband's persona and this new identity.

According to Dr. Holstein, the film is a lighthearted romp that explores real themes of honesty and fantasy within marriage. She stated, 'Both myself and my husband, Dr. Russell Holstein, are very excited about the film. The film developed in our minds as we found ourselves reacting to some things that happened to ourselves. Without giving the plot away, let me just say that the story that developed was one that we lived through. We were the patients in real life that had to work through what we felt. As psychologists, we ended up believing that there are many facets to romance that are difficult but also can be fun and amazing.'

In conjunction with the film release, Dr. Holstein is offering a free ebook giveaway of her book 'Women's Freedom, Unfinished Love Stories, 2nd Edition' on June 28 and 29, 2026, available at Amazon. The book explores the struggles and desires of young women in the 1960s, focusing on sexuality, identity, and self-discovery. Dr. Holstein noted that readers may find themselves reflecting on their own rights, needs, and societal influences.
