Hadron Energy Advances Regulatory Readiness Ahead of $1.2 Billion SPAC Merger

Hadron Energy, Inc. is making strides in regulatory preparedness as it approaches its $1.2 billion SPAC merger with GigCapital7 Corp. (Nasdaq: GIG). The company's light-water microreactor design benefits from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC) extensive experience with such technology, which currently oversees 94 operating light-water reactors nationwide. Since its founding, Hadron has pursued a uniquely proactive regulatory strategy, engaging with the NRC as the commission develops policies for advanced nuclear reactors.

In December 2024, Hadron attended its first Advanced Reactor Stakeholder Meeting, contributing to policy development in the microreactor space. The company has regularly attended NRC public meetings, preparing its regulatory strategy for the Hadron MMR. A pivotal meeting on July 17-18, 2025, saw Hadron as the sole company publicly supporting a more restrictive safety framework for microreactors, a framework the company believes its Halo MMR will meet.

In April 2025, Hadron submitted a Letter of Intent and initial Regulatory Engagement Plan (REP), initiating formal pre-application engagement with the NRC. Following its first public meeting, the company filed an updated REP aligned with NRC guidance to streamline commercialization. Hadron has since adhered to its REP, submitting quality documents on time, including its Quality Assurance Program Description (QAPD) and soon a Topical Report on Principal Design Criteria.

Despite the government shutdown, Hadron continues to develop comprehensive topical reports and hire essential talent to strengthen the Halo MMR's safety case. This front-loaded regulatory approach keeps the company ahead of corporate deadlines, on track for rapid commercialization. Additionally, Hadron has engaged with the Department of Energy (DOE), looking forward to collaborating on the Janus Project, a DOE initiative to deploy microreactors on U.S. military bases.

As it heads toward the merger with GigCapital7 Corp., Hadron remains committed to a collaborative, transparent regulatory approach, positioning itself as a key partner in revitalizing the U.S. nuclear industry. For more information, visit https://www.hadronenergy.com/.
