HITN Launches Multi-Platform Celebration for America's 250th Anniversary, Aiming to Connect Hispanic Audiences with U.S. Heritage

HITN, the leading Spanish-language public media network in the United States, has announced a comprehensive three-part celebration for the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The initiative includes a broadcast marathon of the Smithsonian Channel documentary series Aerial America, an original short-form campaign titled America 250, and an interactive digital experience at hitn.tv/aniversario-250/. The effort aims to strengthen the sense of belonging among Hispanic communities by showcasing the nation's landmarks and history.

Michael D. Nieves, President and CEO of HITN, stated that the campaign seeks to strengthen the sense of belonging among Hispanic communities while remaining true to the network's mission of educating and entertaining audiences. The centerpiece of the broadcast celebration is a marathon airing of Aerial America titled "50 States in 50 Hours," running all day on Saturday, July 4th, and Sunday, July 5th. The award-winning series offers helicopter flyovers of all 50 states, revealing historic landmarks, national parks, and natural treasures. Starting Monday, July 6, back-to-back episodes will air daily at 1:00 and 2:00 PM EDT/PDT throughout the summer.

Complementing the broadcast, the America 250 campaign features short-form segments airing throughout HITN's schedule, highlighting iconic landmarks and historic sites. The segments were directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Cody Williams and produced by Ordinary Sunday, with an original score by Grammy and Tony Award-winning musician Bryan Carter. These segments will also be available on the HITN GO streaming app for free access.

The interactive digital hub at hitn.tv/aniversario-250/ offers an interactive U.S. map where visitors can discover facts about each state, paired with video clips from Aerial America. Users can earn virtual stickers to fill a collectible digital album, turning the anniversary into an engaging adventure accessible from any device. HITN reaches more than 35 million homes in the United States and Puerto Rico through providers including DIRECTV, AT&T U-verse, Comcast Xfinity, and Charter Spectrum.
