HKTDC Twin Jewellery Shows Open, Showcasing 4,000 Exhibitors and Global Gemstone Treasures

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) opened the 12th Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show today at AsiaWorld-Expo, running through March 6, while the 42nd Hong Kong International Jewellery Show will be held from March 4-8 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Together, these twin shows reinforce their position as the world's largest one-stop jewellery marketplace, according to organizers.

Jenny Koo, Deputy Executive Director of the HKTDC, said the twin shows return under the 'Two Shows, Two Venues' format, presenting an extensive spectrum of product categories including diamonds, gemstones and pearls, as well as finished jewellery, designer brands, mounting components, product packaging and identification technologies. This year, the twin shows bring together some 4,000 exhibitors from over 40 countries and regions, with 70% coming from outside Hong Kong, reinforcing the highly international nature of the events.

The Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show features more than 20 pavilions representing countries, regions and trade organisations such as Germany, Italy, Colombia, the United States, India, and Thailand. Notably, the Zhushan Turquoise Pavilion is making its debut, bringing together 11 exhibitors showcasing natural treasures from Zhushan County in Hubei Province, known as the 'Hometown of Chinese Turquoise' and one of the world's renowned production regions for high-quality turquoise. The Tanzanite Foundation and the International Colored Gemstone Association also participate, with the latter presenting 37 exhibitors offering rare coloured gemstones. Cody Opal (Australia) Pty Ltd features Lightning Ridge black opal.

Three major product zones at the show—Hall of Fine Diamonds, Treasures of Nature, and Treasures of Ocean—highlight high-end diamonds, natural gemstones and pearls. Hong Kong exhibitor Arihant Star (HK) Limited showcases a fancy intense pink VVS2 diamond. U.S. exhibitor Emco Gem Inc. presents an 11-carat cushion-cut Colombian emerald. French exhibitor Alain Boite S.A.S. exhibits a freshwater pearl strand measuring 14 to 15.8 mm. GIA Hong Kong Laboratory Limited offers jewellery authentication services and will launch a new coloured gemstone report that presents clearer information on a stone's type, processing and origin, helping the industry and consumers understand the unique value of each gem.

Throughout the Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show, multiple industry seminars and events will uncover market trends. Highlights include a seminar titled 'Forever Forward: Igniting Desire for Natural Diamonds' with representatives from De Beers analysing trends in the natural diamond market, and a session on 'Sustainable Gem Practices: Provenance & Ethical Traceability' from Gem Lab Gübelin Gem Lab Limited, introducing integration of scientific testing and blockchain records. A special promotion conference for Zhushan Turquoise will share the mining and jewellery transformation process.

The Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, opening Wednesday, will feature 20 group pavilions from around the world. Notably, the World Gold Council will debut the Hard Pure Gold Pavilion, bringing together 11 exhibitors to promote innovative gold craftsmanship from Chinese Mainland. Also making its debut is the Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association Pavilion, highlighting exquisite jewellery and timepiece craftsmanship. The creative design zones, including Designer Galleria, will feature about 50 designer exhibitors, while the Hall of Fame has expanded by more than 40%.

To facilitate buyer visits, the HKTDC will arrange free shuttle bus services between AsiaWorld-Expo and urban areas, including the HKCEC. Special measures for Muslim buyers include dedicated prayer rooms at both venues, shuttle buses to local mosques, and lists of Muslim-friendly hotels and restaurants. The HKTDC has also partnered with the Hong Kong Tourism Board to offer exclusive buyer privileges including dining, air tickets, and hotels.

The twin shows adopt an Exhibition+ hybrid format, with the AI-powered Click2Match providing online business matching from February 23 to March 13. Physical buyers can use Scan2Match to scan exhibitor QR codes and continue discussions online. Buyers can enhance efficiency by completing registration through the HKTDC Marketplace App and official websites.
