ITS Logistics, a rapidly growing third-party logistics provider in North America, has announced a major expansion of its DropFleet trailer network, adding thousands of trailers to address evolving supply chain demands. The expansion is driven by the need for hybrid capacity solutions that offer shippers both dedicated equipment and access to a broad carrier network, without regional or lane restrictions. According to Josh Allen, Chief Commercial Officer at ITS Logistics, the scalability of hybrid capacity is crucial for shippers facing unexpected shifts during peak season, ensuring timely and reliable delivery.
The DropFleet network utilizes ITS’s proprietary AI-enabled asset management technology, which optimizes trailer pools and yard management, eliminating issues like idle capacity and rebalancing. This system has proven effective for major clients, including Gap, which named ITS its Peak Carrier of the Year, a top ten automotive manufacturer managing 200 trailers across 16 facilities, and a leading North American retailer using 1,000 trailers for e-commerce growth. The flexibility allows shippers to adjust volume dynamically, shipping any amount anywhere at short notice.
Amid rising freight fraud, with CargoNet reporting 884 supply chain theft events in Q2 2025—a 13% increase year-over-year—ITS has implemented stringent security measures. Carriers undergo multifactor verification upon onboarding and after 30 days of inactivity, and all carriers use real-time tracking software. ITS assets feature GPS tracking and door sensors, contributing to a critical incident rate of just 0.004%, well below industry standards.
Allen emphasized that quality of capacity surpasses quantity, noting that 80% of freight runs on 30% of the carrier network. By curating a premium pool of proven carriers, ITS Logistics ensures reliability and dedication. The expansion of DropFleet underscores the growing importance of hybrid capacity in modern supply chains, balancing scalability, cost-effectiveness, and security.
