KC Lewis' 'Recurve' Blends Sci-Fi, Horror, and Existential Mystery in a Story of Second Chances

Franklin Publishers has announced the release of Recurve, a new science fiction thriller by Houston author KC Lewis. The novel is the first book in the Argentum Saga and combines elements of military survival, psychological suspense, and cosmic mystery, set in a quarantined Houston devastated by a catastrophic First Contact event.

The story follows an amnesiac survivor, known only as Teller, Subject Four, or the Fortune Teller, who awakens alone in an abandoned hospital with no memory of his past. He joins a group of soldiers and survivors fighting a growing threat, discovering his connection to a classified experiment called the Reclamation Project. Teller possesses a terrifying ability: death is not the end. Each time he dies, he returns with fragments of knowledge from alternate outcomes, forcing him to relive tragedies while searching for a future where humanity survives.

The narrative begins as a desperate fight against monstrous Ferronines and a mysterious silver substance known as Argentum, gradually unfolding into a larger story about memory, transformation, grief, faith, sacrifice, and the search for meaning. Lewis explores what remains of a person when every certainty is stripped away, asking: if you were given endless chances to save the people you love, how many times would you suffer to get it right?

According to the press release, the concept originated from a recurring nightmare and developed over more than five years. In his preface, Lewis describes the novel as a story born from grief, perseverance, and the belief that stories can remind readers they are not alone. The book is available in ebook, paperback, and hardcover formats.
