On September 10, La Posada, a Kisco Senior Living community in Palm Beach Gardens, honored residents Tony and Marie Maltese as they celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary. The couple's love story began in 1949 at a bungalow in Bradley Beach, New Jersey, when Tony, recently returned from serving in World War II, caught the eye of 17-year-old Marie. Their first date included a dance, sparking a lifelong passion for ballroom dancing that has been central to their relationship.
"From the very beginning, dancing has been at the heart of our love story," the Malteses said. "On our very first date, we stepped onto the dance floor and it just felt right—like we were in perfect rhythm with each other." The couple credits flexibility, compromise, and not sweating the small stuff for their lasting marriage, along with learning early how to say, "Yes, dear."
The Maltese family marked the occasion with a private family dinner hosted by La Posada and a traditional clam bake attended by relatives from as far as Tennessee. Research supports that lifelong companionship has powerful benefits for health and well-being, including longer life expectancy, reduced stress, and improved quality of life. Tony and Marie's story exemplifies how partnership and joy can sustain vitality throughout aging.
"Tony and Marie are an inspiration—not only to our residents but to everyone who meets them," said Rick Minichino, Life Enrichment Director at La Posada. "Their love story is a living example of devotion, joy, and resilience, and it reflects the sense of community we strive to create here every day."
At La Posada, couples like the Malteses can continue nurturing their relationships while enjoying community support, amenities, and a vibrant lifestyle. For Tony and Marie, reaching this milestone surrounded by family, friends, and fellow residents made the celebration all the more special. They hope their story inspires others to cherish and nurture their relationships for the long haul.
