LaFleur Minerals Inc. (CSE: LFLR) (OTCQB: LFLRF) is making headway at its Swanson Gold Project in the Abitibi Greenstone Belt near Val-d'Or, Quebec, after completing seven diamond drill holes totaling 1,764 meters. The company reported that three holes have been sampled, sawn, and sent to the assay laboratory for analysis, targeting geological, geophysical, and geochemical anomalies up to three kilometers from the known Swanson Gold Deposit along a major structural break.
CEO Paul Ténière expressed optimism about the early results, noting particular interest in a sulphide-rich zone encountered in hole SW-025-038, which is at least 17.9 meters wide. "We are very encouraged by the early progress of the Swanson drilling program and the geological and mineralization similarities seen in the recent drill core to the known Swanson Gold Deposit," Ténière stated. The company looks forward to releasing assay results in the near future, which could confirm the economic potential of this target.
The Swanson Gold Project spans approximately 18,304 hectares (183 km²) and includes several gold and critical metal prospects previously held by Monarch Mining, Abcourt Mines, and Globex Mining. LaFleur has consolidated a large land package along a major structural break that hosts the Swanson, Bartec, and Jolin gold deposits, along with other showings. The project is easily accessible by road, offering direct access to several nearby gold mills, enhancing its development potential.
In addition to the Swanson project, LaFleur owns the fully permitted and refurbished Beacon Gold Mill, capable of processing over 750 tonnes per day. The mill is being considered for processing mineralized material from Swanson and for custom milling operations for other nearby gold projects. This infrastructure advantage positions LaFleur to potentially reduce costs and accelerate production timelines.
The Abitibi Greenstone Belt is a world-class gold district that has produced over 200 million ounces of gold. LaFleur's focus on district-scale projects in this region aligns with the growing demand for gold as a safe-haven asset. The company's drilling program aims to define and expand resources at Swanson, with the sulphide-rich zone representing a promising target for higher-grade mineralization.
