LaFleur Minerals Inc. (CSE: LFLR) (OTCQB: LFLRF) (FSE: 3WK0) has taken a significant step toward restarting its wholly owned Beacon Gold Mill by engaging Environmental Resources Management (ERM) to complete a Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA). The PEA will evaluate the economic viability of processing mineralized material primarily from the company's Swanson Gold Deposit in Val d'Or, Quebec. This engagement follows promising drilling results at Swanson that indicate continuity and expansion potential within the mineralized system.
ERM's Technical Mining Services Group in Toronto will oversee the study, which will update the mineral resource estimate, mine plan, and metallurgical testing programs. The assessment will also provide cost estimates for the Beacon Mill restart. The Beacon Mill, which is fully permitted and refurbished, has a capacity of over 750 tonnes per day and is being considered not only for processing material from Swanson but also for custom milling operations for other nearby gold projects.
The Swanson Gold Project spans approximately 18,304 hectares (183 km²) and includes several prospects rich in gold and critical metals. These prospects were previously held by Monarch Mining, Abcourt Mines, and Globex Mining. LaFleur has consolidated a large land package along a major structural break that hosts the Swanson, Bartec, and Jolin gold deposits, among others. The project is easily accessible by road, providing direct access to several nearby gold mills, which enhances its development potential.
The PEA is a critical milestone for LaFleur as it aims to transition from exploration to production. By leveraging the existing infrastructure of the Beacon Mill, the company could potentially reduce capital expenditures and accelerate the timeline to production. The successful completion of the PEA could also attract additional investment and partnerships, further strengthening the company's position in the Abitibi Gold Belt.
