Travelers passing through Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) seeking an alternative to the cramped terminal can visit the Martial Arts History Museum in Glendale, just a short distance from the airport. The museum, designed by former Disney artist and founder Michael Matsuda, is the only one of its kind in the world, weaving together Asian art, history, culture, and tradition with the story of American martial arts.
According to a news release, the museum offers a family-friendly environment where visitors can walk their luggage in, set it aside in a safe corner, and enjoy a couple of hours of engaging, educational fun. Exhibits include actual props from famous martial arts movies, sections on Anime, and cultural displays covering Warrior Women, Native American, African art, and Hispanic Lucha history. The museum also features the official Martial Arts Hall of Fame.
The experience is designed to take about one to two hours, making it a time-efficient way to burn pre-flight hours without the stress of LAX traffic. Parking is available just around the corner on Orange Avenue, with the first 90 minutes free. The museum is located at 201 N. Brand Blvd., B100, Glendale, CA 91203.
