PowerBank Secures Approvals for Two Community Solar Projects in Skaneateles, New York

PowerBank Corporation (NASDAQ: SUUN) (Cboe CA: SUNN) (FSE: GY2) has secured all required municipal approvals for two 14.4 MW solar projects in the community of Skaneateles in upstate New York. The company announced that it has obtained variances, site plan approval, and a special use permit, moving the projects closer to construction.

The solar installations will be built on industrial brownfield sites in Onondaga County, within the Finger Lakes region. This approach repurposes unused land with limited economic potential, providing an environmentally beneficial reuse. The projects support New York’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act goal of 6 GW of solar capacity by 2025.

PowerBank is now awaiting approval from the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) before construction can begin. Once operational, the projects will supply clean energy to the grid, with subscribers earning credits on their electricity bills each month.

PowerBank has more than 100 MW of completed projects and a 1 GW pipeline across North America. The company specializes in distributed and community solar initiatives throughout Canada and the U.S. For more details, see the full announcement at https://ibn.fm/yLdyR.

These projects represent a significant step for PowerBank in expanding its community solar portfolio and contributing to New York's renewable energy targets. By utilizing brownfield sites, the company addresses environmental remediation while generating clean power. The approvals also signal local government support for renewable development in the region.

The projects are part of a broader trend in community solar, which allows residents and businesses to benefit from solar energy without installing panels on their own property. Subscribers receive credits that reduce their electricity costs, making solar accessible to a wider population.

PowerBank’s progress in Skaneateles highlights the company’s ability to navigate regulatory processes and advance projects in key markets. With a strong pipeline of over 1 GW, the company is positioned for continued growth in the renewable energy sector.
