The Shincheonji Volunteer Group (SVG) of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony, has launched a worldwide initiative called 'First Step,' encouraging recent graduates to engage in community service projects from December 2 through December 6. The program aims to put into practice the teachings of the Zion Christian Mission Center, which recently graduated 59,192 theology students, including 2,248 pastors, on November 2 in Cheongju, South Korea.
Volunteers are organizing projects across multiple continents, including Asia, North America, South America, and Africa. On November 30, 65 SVG members gathered at Jones Beach in Long Island, New York, for a beach clean-up. Despite cold temperatures and rain, the group collected bottle caps, wrappers, and other debris from the sand. This event marked the beginning of SVG's regular volunteer activities in New York.
The 'First Step' program is designed to allow graduates to give back to their communities during the holiday season, embodying the spirit of service, gratitude, and love. According to the group, the initiative reflects the belief that 'giving is better than receiving' and aims to be 'a bright light for the world.' SVG plans to continue organizing volunteer projects on a regular basis in New York and other locations.
