The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) announced that Sophia Chong officially assumed the role of Executive Director on October 1, 2025. In her new position, Chong highlighted the importance of Hong Kong's role as a "superconnector" and "super value-adder" in the ever-changing global economy. She stated that the HKTDC will continue to enhance its services to help enterprises seize opportunities amid global uncertainty, leveraging Hong Kong's unique strengths to boost competitiveness and explore new markets. The council aims to attract more businesses to use Hong Kong as a platform for international expansion, which will inject new momentum into the city's economy and solidify its position as an international business hub.
On the same day, Jenny Koo took over as Deputy Executive Director, overseeing international exhibitions and related services and digital business. Chong praised Koo's extensive experience and innovative mindset, noting that she is well-equipped to help enterprises navigate challenges and capture new opportunities. Prior to her promotion, Koo served as Assistant Executive Director, overseeing exhibitions and digital business initiatives. In 2020, as Director of Exhibition Market Development, she successfully transitioned physical exhibitions to virtual platforms. In 2021, as Director of Digital Business, she led the formulation and implementation of the HKTDC's digitalisation strategies and the upgrade of the hktdc.com Sourcing platform to help SMEs embrace digital technology.
The HKTDC is a statutory body established in 1966 to promote, assist, and develop Hong Kong's trade.
