A new initiative aimed at revitalizing democratic participation has been unveiled with the launch of The Magnificent American Voters (The MAVs), a multi-platform project that combines a book, 3D animated series, toy line, and audiobook. Created by Carvel and Jacqueline Rease, the project seeks to empower Americans of all ages to protect their voting rights and stand up for justice, peace, and freedom.
According to the announcement, the Rease family has been deeply involved in grassroots democracy for decades, having knocked on thousands of doors across California, Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico to encourage voter registration and civic participation. Their work with local campaigns—including those for Senator Josh Harder and Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, as well as city council initiatives in Modesto—underscores the belief that democracy begins at the neighborhood level.
The book and 3D animated video introduce a team of superheroes who fight to protect human rights, freedom of speech, and fair elections. The villains include characters like “The Voter Suppressionist” and “The Gerrymanderer,” who threaten the foundations of democracy. The MAVs draw their powers from passing bills, standing united, and inspiring others to act, reinforcing the message that every citizen becomes a superhero when they vote.
“The time for silence is over,” said Carvel Rease in the press release. “There are over 360 bills across 47 states designed to suppress the vote. That’s why we created The Magnificent American Voters, to remind Americans that our democracy survives only when we protect it together.”
The Rease family’s transition from door-to-door activism to digital animation reflects a broader strategy to engage younger audiences and expand the movement globally. The project aims to teach future generations that democracy must be defended, not taken for granted. The book is currently available on Amazon.
