URZ3 Energy Corp. has announced the start of an exploration program at its Dry Fork Uranium Project, located in the Powder River Basin of Wyoming, a region recognized as one of the most significant uranium-producing areas in the United States. The project is situated just 10 kilometers (6 miles) from the Nichols Ranch Uranium Project, underscoring its strategic positioning within a proven uranium district.
The exploration program is designed to assess the property's potential for in-situ recovery (ISR) uranium, a mining method that involves extracting uranium by dissolving it underground and pumping it to the surface. The first phase of the program will focus on identifying areas with uranium-bearing groundwater, which could indicate zones of ISR-compatible uranium mineralization. This will involve sampling around known water springs and using hand-held spectrometers to locate additional springs and surface seeps that may carry uranium. The spectrometer survey will be conducted over a systematic ground grid to refine exploration targets and guide future drilling plans.
Mark Kolebaba, President and CEO of URZ3 Energy, emphasized the importance of a cost-effective and scientific approach: 'By focusing first on hydrogeological indicators, we are taking a cost-effective and scientific approach to prioritizing drill targets for ISR uranium potential.' He noted that Dry Fork is expected to be part of a broader portfolio of properties in Wyoming and the southwestern United States, where renewed momentum and growth opportunities are driven by U.S. governmental incentives and pathways to expedited exploration and production of uranium and other critical metals.
The announcement comes amid heightened federal support for domestic uranium production. In a September 15th interview with Bloomberg, U.S. Secretary of Energy Christopher Wright emphasized the need to strengthen the U.S. strategic uranium reserve to reduce reliance on foreign supply and support nuclear energy growth. The Strategic Uranium Reserve program, initiated in 2020, has already led to U.S. government purchases of one million pounds of U₃O₈ at prices above prevailing market levels. More recently, on August 22, 2025, the Department of Energy announced the creation of a Defense Production Act Consortium to expand domestic fuel availability, enhance power reliability, and accelerate America's path toward nuclear energy independence.
The company has designated Jim Ebisch (P. Geol) as the Qualified Person under National Instrument 43-101 to review the project data.
