NEW YORK — Verizon announced on October 21, 2025, the launch of Digital Secure Home, a new service designed to protect home networks, alongside a significant update to the Verizon Protect app. These initiatives, unveiled during Cybersecurity Awareness Month, aim to provide customers with greater security and peace of mind.
According to Che Phillip, Senior Vice President of Consumer Device Marketing at Verizon, the company is focused on securing the connections customers rely on. “We’re not just talking about security; we’re delivering it directly into our customers’ hands,” Phillip said, highlighting the importance of proactive protection.
The 2025 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report found a 34% increase in breaches originating from exploitation of vulnerabilities, underscoring the need for robust home network security. Digital Secure Home, available through the Verizon Home app, offers two tiers. The basic tier, included at no extra cost with Fios Home Internet, provides Vulnerability Assessments and Malicious Website Protection. The Plus tier, at $5.99 per month, adds defenses against botnet and brute force attacks, abnormal device behavior detection, and protection for sensitive data on router-connected devices.
The Verizon Protect app has also been refreshed with new features to enhance mobile security. These include a Security Rating that offers a dynamic score of personal data security, and Security Categories that measure protection across identity, device, network, and online areas, providing personalized recommendations.
Verizon is also promoting device protection through its Fall Open Enrollment for Verizon Mobile Protect, available until November 3. This plan covers loss, theft, damage, and post-warranty malfunctions, with benefits such as unlimited claims, unlimited cracked screen repairs, 24/7 tech support, and same-day device delivery and setup.
