Weed Man Launches 2nd Annual Grassroots Giving Food Drive to Combat Food Insecurity

Weed Man, North America's fastest-growing franchised lawn care provider, has announced the launch of its 2nd Annual Grassroots Giving Food Drive, running from September 8 to November 21. The initiative mobilizes franchisees across the United States and Canada to partner with local food banks and collect non-perishable food items for families facing food insecurity. Last year's inaugural drive collected over 76,000 pounds of food, equivalent to 64,000 meals, and the company hopes to surpass that total this year.

Jen Lemcke, CEO of Weed Man, emphasized the community-driven nature of the campaign. "Weed Man has always been a family business, and we've never felt more like a family than we did last year during Grassroots Giving," she said. "The response and enthusiasm we saw from our local franchisees was nothing short of incredible. Everyone wanted to give back to their community. I cannot wait to see what we're able to do this year!"

Customers can participate by leaving shelf-stable, non-perishable items such as canned goods, pasta, rice, and peanut butter on their front porch on the day of their scheduled lawn service. Technicians will collect the donations during their visit. Exact dates may vary by location, and customers are encouraged to contact their local Weed Man office or visit the Grassroots Giving website for specific community needs and donation guidelines.

After the collection period, each franchisee will weigh their total donations, with awards and recognition going to those who collect the most food. The initiative addresses a critical issue: food insecurity affects millions of households across North America. "Few problems are felt more on a local level than food insecurity, both in the United States and Canada," added Lemcke. "We wanted a North America-wide initiative that could have a real impact on a community level. By taking part in Grassroots Giving, our franchisees have a real opportunity to give back to the communities they live and work in."

Weed Man, founded in 1970, has grown to over 970 territories across North America through franchising, which began in 1976. The company remains committed to personalized service and local community engagement. For more information on Weed Man's services or franchising opportunities, visit weedmanfranchise.com.
