The Atlanta Community Food Bank, in partnership with five other local hunger relief organizations, will host the 42nd annual Hunger Walk Run on Sunday, March 15, 2026, from Noon to 4 pm at The Home Depot Backyard. The hybrid 5K event, which also offers a virtual participation option, aims to address the highest demand for food assistance since the pandemic, according to the Food Bank.
Each registration makes a significant impact: walkers help provide 90 meals, while runners contribute 120 meals for neighbors in need. Since its inception in 1984, the Hunger Walk Run has raised over $16 million, enough to provide more than 48 million meals. This year's event is especially critical as the Food Bank faces unprecedented demand.
Participants of all ages and abilities are welcome, either as individuals, families, groups, or teams. The on-site festivities include music, food vendors, warm-ups, and a dedicated Kids Zone with bounce houses, slides, and interactive characters. The event occurs rain or shine.
"Hunger Walk Run is a highly anticipated event that rallies thousands from our community to take steps toward fighting hunger," said Kyle Waide, President & CEO of the Atlanta Community Food Bank. "Every person who participates, whether on-site or virtually, helps make a difference, and their support enables the Food Bank and other benefitting organizations to connect our neighbors in need with nutritious food and vital resources."
The virtual option allows participants to join from anywhere, tracking steps on March 15 or any day. Participants are encouraged to share their involvement on social media by tagging @ACFB and using the hashtag #HWR2026. Online registration is open until 12 pm on Friday, March 13, with fees ranging from $25 to $40. Walk-up registration is available for an additional $5 per entry.
