Andina Copper Corporation (TSX-V: ANDC | FSE: FIR | OTCQB: PMMCF) reported further outstanding drill intercepts from the Cobrasco Project in Choco, Colombia, with drillhole CDH009 confirming a significant northwesterly extension of near-surface mineralization. The hole, drilled to a final depth of 954m, returned 502m at 0.40% copper, 73ppm molybdenum, and 1.22g/t silver from 38m downhole, including a higher-grade interval of 186m at 0.50% copper, 22ppm molybdenum, and 1.48g/t silver.
These results expand the drillhole-defined mineralized footprint at Cobrasco Central to approximately 1,200m by 550m, with the footprint continuing to grow through successive step-out drilling. Mineralization remains open in all directions. The company has completed two additional drillholes, CDH010 and CDH011, from the same platform, with assays pending, and is preparing to mobilize a second drill rig to expedite exploration.
Joseph van den Elsen, President and CEO, stated: “Andina Copper continues to systematically advance its scout drilling programme in a northwesterly direction with wide spaced fans of holes aimed at expanding the envelope of porphyry Cu-Mo mineralization. The results of hole CDH009 validate this approach, significantly extending shallow, near-surface copper-molybdenum mineralization 350m to the northwest.”
The geology of CDH009 shows a leached cap with supergene oxidation to approximately 41m, below which significant chalcopyrite mineralization occurs as disseminations and veinlets. From 38m to 350m, grades are elevated, associated with intensive sericite alteration and magmatic-hydrothermal breccias. Below 350m, copper grades decrease as the sericitic overprint diminishes within a dominant potassic-altered domain, but mineralization persists to the end of the hole.
