Andina Copper Corporation (TSX-V: ANDC | FSE: FIR | OTCQB: PMMCF) announced continuing outstanding drill intercepts from the Cobrasco Project in Choco, Colombia. Drillhole CDH008, completed to a depth of 652.25 meters, extends the Cobrasco Central Cu-Mo porphyry system to the north, returning 272 meters at 0.50% copper, 75 ppm molybdenum, and 1.92 g/t silver from 52 meters downhole, including 152 meters at 0.67% copper, 68 ppm molybdenum, and 1.90 g/t silver from 54 meters.
Near-surface mineralization begins at approximately 52 meters and is associated with multiple mineralized porphyry phases and related magmatic-hydrothermal breccias. Two additional drillholes from the same platform, CDH009 (completed, assays pending) and CDH010 (in progress), are testing northwest and west-southwest extensions. Visual logging indicates sulphide mineralization consistent with the broader Cobrasco Central system.
The Cobrasco mineralized footprint now extends approximately 1,100 meters along strike and 550 meters laterally, remaining open in all directions. Further expansion potential toward the northwest and west-southwest is imminent pending results from CDH009 and CDH010. Ongoing scout drilling continues, with additional large step-out holes planned.
President and CEO Joseph van den Elsen commented: “We continue to systematically advance a wide-spaced scout drilling programme, actively testing the limits of the Cobrasco system with wide fans of significant step-out drillholes. The system continues to grow with each successive drillhole, with the mineralization footprint already covering an area of ~1,100m x 550m, and results from CDH009 and CDH010 expected to further extend. Surface geochemistry and field observations strongly suggest that the mineralization continues to the north and northwest and indeed remains open in all directions. Preparations are being made for the mobilization of a second diamond drilling rig to support the next phase of definition drilling of Cobrasco Central and new porphyry centers still to be tested.”
Drillhole CDH008 was collared from the same pad as CDH006 and CDH007 and drilled due north at -50° to test the northern continuation of shallow mineralization. Previous holes from the platform intersected broad intervals of continuous moderate- to high-grade Cu-Mo mineralization starting from approximately 38 meters, including up to 486 meters in CDH006. CDH008 (azimuth 360°, dip -50°, depth 652.25m) tested approximately 420 meters laterally and 500 meters vertically from the collar.
The hole intersected a leached cap with intense supergene alteration over intermineral rhyolite porphyry. Beneath the leached zone, a 30-meter interval with chalcocite coating hypogene sulphides suggests incipient secondary copper enrichment. The upper portion comprises sericite-altered intermineral rhyolite porphyry intruding dacite-andesite porphyry, with early quartz veins containing disseminated chalcopyrite and pyrite. Strongest mineralization is associated with potassic and sericite-altered magmatic-hydrothermal breccias related to intermineral rhyolite porphyry intrusions. Higher Cu-Mo grades are consistently associated with hydrothermal breccia phases where chalcopyrite occurs as matrix infill and thin cross-cutting veinlets overprinting molybdenite. Bornite was locally observed rimming chalcopyrite, indicating a possible later higher-sulphidation event.
Younger late-intermineral rhyolite phases between 217m and 253m, and below 290m, show decreased mineralization and weak sericite alteration with D-type veins. At 398m, a crowded granodiorite porphyry interpreted as an earlier barren precursor was intersected.
