Andina Copper Corporation (TSX-V: ANDC | FSE: FIR | OTCQB: PMMCF) reported outstanding drill intercepts from the second hole of its maiden diamond drilling program at the Cobrasco copper-molybdenum project in Choco, Colombia. Following recent high-grade intersections in drillhole CDH003 (352m @ 0.68% Cu, 112 ppm Mo; incl. 118m @ 1.17% Cu, 193 ppm Mo), results from CDH004 have returned further intercepts of strong mineralization, reinforcing the potential for a globally significant deposit.
Drillhole CDH004, completed to a depth of 900.25 meters, intersected multiple phases of porphyry intrusions and breccias, with the strongest copper grades occurring between 579 and 686 meters. This interval averaged 0.75% Cu, including a peak 2-meter assay of 1.70% Cu. The mineralization is associated with intensely fractured magmatic-hydrothermal breccias, interpreted as effective fluid focusing zones. Sporadic gold values up to 1.06 g/t were also encountered, suggesting a possible gold-rich intrusive phase within the broader Cobrasco system.
Step-out drillhole CDH005, designed to expand the mineralized footprint to the southwest, has been completed to 934 meters and encountered visually significant chalcopyrite-dominant sulphide mineralization in dacite-andesite units. Assays are pending and expected shortly. Meanwhile, step-out drillhole CDH006 is underway, targeting potential large extensions of the mineralized system.
