Angkor Resources Corp. (TSXV: ANK) announced the voting results from its Annual General Meeting of Shareholders held on January 29, 2026, where all resolutions were approved, including the appointment of Dr. David Johnson to the Board of Directors. Shareholders voted overwhelmingly in favor of the sale of the company's 40% participating interest in the Evesham Macklin oil and gas lands in Saskatchewan for $4,800,000, a transaction that removes $3,800,000 in debt and provides $1,000,000 in net proceeds. The sale, approved by over 99% of voters, is a strategic move to reallocate resources toward the Cambodian onshore Block VIII Project for potential growth.
The company reported that 96,855,431 common shares, representing approximately 47.78% of outstanding shares, were voted. Shareholders also reappointed Davidson & Company LLP as auditors, set the number of directors at six, and approved the company's rolling stock option plan. The newly elected board includes Russ Tynan, Mike Weeks, Terry Mereniuk, Ken Booth, Grant T. Smith, and Dr. David Johnson. Dr. Johnson brings over 40 years of global exploration and production experience, having worked for Shell, ExxonMobil, Husky Energy, and other major firms. His expertise in petroleum, natural gas, and helium, along with his leadership in bid-round acquisitions and significant discoveries, is expected to guide Angkor's strategic direction.
CEO Delayne Weeks expressed gratitude to shareholders for their support and welcomed Dr. Johnson to the board. The company also acknowledged the retirement of long-time directors Steve Cochrane and Scott Smith, thanking them for their contributions. Angkor Resources, a resource optimizer focused on Cambodia, holds mineral exploration licenses for copper and gold and an onshore oil and gas license for Block VIII. With seismic completed in 2025, the company aims to identify drill targets and advance toward drilling Cambodia's first onshore exploratory wells. The strategic sale of the Saskatchewan assets underscores Angkor's commitment to concentrating efforts on its Cambodian projects, aligning with its mission to prove Cambodia as an oil and gas producing nation.
