Autumn Lighting Fair, Outdoor and Tech Light Expo, Eco Expo Asia Draw Some 62,000 Buyers

Three major Hong Kong trade fairs concluded successfully, attracting about 62,000 buyers from 141 countries and regions, with a survey revealing AI, smart city development, and technological advancement as key growth drivers in the lighting industry.

The 27th Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition), the 10th Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo, and the 20th Eco Expo Asia have concluded successfully, attracting some 62,000 buyers from 141 countries and regions, according to organizers. The events, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and co-organizers, showcased innovative products and solutions in lighting and environmental technologies, leveraging Hong Kong's role as a global trading hub.

The Autumn Lighting Fair and Outdoor and Tech Light Expo, under the theme 'Illuminated Designs for a Smarter Future', featured the Hall of Connected Lighting with some 70 top global brands. Dutch company Signify unveiled its VitaUp Vitamin D3 Modules by Philips in Asia, while Finnish firm Casambi Technologies Oy created immersive scenes for buyers. An AI smart lighting exhibitor, Bweetech Electronics Technology, confirmed an onsite order with a Thai buyer worth RMB8 million, double its sales from the previous year.

An independent survey of over 730 exhibitors and buyers revealed optimism, with 61% expecting overall sales growth in the next 12-24 months. Respondents identified AI (57%), smart city development (40%), and technological advancement (36%) as key growth drivers. 74% believed smart lighting has good to very good market potential, particularly in home automation and smart lighting control systems (39%), energy-efficient lighting control solutions (38%), and wireless lighting control systems (29%). Top challenges included global economic fluctuations (65%), rising costs due to inflation (42%), and protectionist measures (35%).

Eco Expo Asia, themed 'Green Innovations for Carbon Neutrality', debuted a new pavilion featuring 22 local green start-ups and 11 mainland enterprises. A mainland green enterprise, Infore Enviro, engaged with over 35 government representatives from places including Hong Kong, the UAE, and Vietnam, expecting annual overseas revenue growth to exceed 200%. Local startup Dunwell Engineering Company Limited, a 20-year participant, connected with buyers from Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, and Saudi Arabia, projecting the expo to contribute around 20% of annual revenue.

The fairs attracted significant global buyer interest. Trient Trading from the UAE planned to purchase lighting for two large-scale projects with a total order value of US$1.6 million. A Hungarian buyer, Endre Bali of Oxyma Systems Kft, identified a potential hydrogen storage partnership valued at US$3-5 million. Under the EXHIBITION+ hybrid mode, exhibitors and buyers can continue online business negotiations via the Click2Match platform until 7 November.
