BRAIN Biotech AG Appoints Dr. Sven K. Weber as New CEO

The Supervisory Board of BRAIN Biotech AG has appointed Dr. Sven K. Weber to the Executive Board as the future Chairman (CEO), effective October 1, 2026. He succeeds Adriaan Moelker, who has led the company for the past six years and will retire at the end of his contract term in January 2027, serving as a senior advisor until then.

Dr. Weber, 44, brings over a decade of leadership experience from the BASF Group, where he most recently served as Vice President responsible for the global enzyme business. In that role, he drove innovation-led profitable growth, significantly increasing revenue and earnings. His background includes positions at Chemetall GmbH, where he managed global automotive OEM business, and at hte GmbH, a provider of high-throughput R&D solutions. He began his career at Merck Group and holds a diploma and doctorate in chemistry from the University of Heidelberg, along with an executive management program at SGMI Management Institute in St. Gallen.

Dr. Michael Majerus, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, thanked Mr. Moelker for repositioning BRAIN as an integrated manufacturing company in the enzyme sector and for successfully monetizing projects from the BRAINBioIncubator. He expressed confidence that Dr. Weber will continue the company's strategic direction, tap into additional growth potential, and accelerate operational implementation. Dr. Weber stated his intention to build on BRAIN's strong technological foundation and scientific expertise to accelerate growth, strengthen profitability, and bring innovative products to market more quickly. His goal is to develop BRAIN into a leading provider of specialty enzymes in selected applications and to unlock further potential through the BRAINBioIncubator.

BRAIN Biotech Group specializes in researching, developing, and producing specialty enzymes for the food and life sciences industries, as well as microbial production strains and scalable bioprocesses. The company operates fermentation facilities in the UK and has additional production sites in Europe and the US. Listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since 2016 (Ticker: BNN), the group reported revenue of €49.6 million in the 2024/25 fiscal year with about 280 employees.
