Carl Angus DeSantis Foundation Awards $365,000 Grant to Boost Early Learning in Delray Beach

The Achievement Centers for Children & Families has received a $365,000 grant from the Carl Angus DeSantis Foundation to support its nationally accredited Early Learning Program (ELP). The funding will sustain the program at the Nancy K. Hurd campus in Delray Beach, which serves up to 109 children ages 1 to 5, providing more than 2,485 service hours annually and over 47,000 meals. The program maintains low teacher-to-child ratios and employs 22 full-time, highly credentialed educators to ensure children are kindergarten-ready.

Stephanie Seibel, CEO of the Achievement Centers, said the grant lifts a significant burden. “More than just funding, this gift enables our staff to focus on program innovation and long-term sustainability with ripple effects across our afterschool programs, teen initiatives, and family support services,” she said. The organization serves over 760 children and families annually, primarily in Delray Beach, where the average household income is $24,592. Many families face poverty, trauma, and limited access to quality education.

The grant supports the ELP’s curriculum focused on six essential developmental domains, helping children from working single-parent households and those at risk of falling through the cracks. Seibel added that the foundation’s gift is a vote of confidence in the mission and the future of the community’s youngest learners. The Achievement Centers for Children & Families offers Early Learning, After School, Teen, and Summer Camp programs, along with family support services. The organization operates three locations in Delray Beach, including the Nancy K. Hurd Campus, Village Academy, and Pine Grove Elementary. The Carl Angus DeSantis Foundation’s grant underscores the importance of early childhood education in breaking cycles of poverty and building a stronger foundation for lifelong success.
