CHICAGO, IL — What if the signs we've been waiting for have been right in front of us all along? For Chicago author Charese David, that question became the center of a deeply personal journey that she is now sharing in a new book. No Coincidence: Hearts Found Along the Way, a heartfelt photography keepsake book, launches Wednesday, November 11, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Le Sud Mediterranean Kitchen in Chicago.
The story behind the book began on October 13, 2018, when Charese attended her niece's wedding. The celebration was beautiful, but her father's absence was deeply felt. The following day, while reviewing photographs, she noticed something unexpected: a heart-shaped image on the church wall. To Charese and her family, it felt like a sign from her father, reminding them that his love was still present. That discovery changed how she saw the world. Hearts began appearing in unexpected places: nature, everyday objects, even the remains of a shredded dog toy. As Charese writes in her book, "I don't look for hearts; they just appear."
Then, in 2024, following her mother's passing, another remarkable moment occurred. While opening a bottle of wine at her mother's memorial, Charese discovered a heart in the center of the cork. For her, it was another deeply comforting reminder of love and connection. Two parents. Two goodbyes. Two unexpected hearts.
What makes No Coincidence: Hearts Found Along the Way different isn't simply its collection of naturally occurring heart photographs. It's the invitation behind them. Charese isn't asking readers to believe what she believes. She's encouraging them to slow down, notice their surroundings, and find their own meaning in life's unexpected moments. Whether someone sees a heart, hears a familiar song, or experiences another personal sign, the meaning belongs to them. Her discoveries have already inspired others to share photographs of hearts and stories of signs they've experienced.
For those navigating grief, seeking reassurance, or simply looking for more positivity, Charese's book offers a gentle reminder that love and connection can be found in unexpected places. The message extends far beyond the pages: you don't have to see what Charese sees. You simply have to give yourself permission to notice what matters to you. Because sometimes the most meaningful discoveries are the ones we weren't looking for.
The launch event on November 11 will celebrate the book and share the photographs and personal experiences that inspired it.
