Clym Environmental Services, LLC celebrated the opening of its new processing facility in Frostburg, Maryland, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 27, 2026. The event drew more than 100 attendees, including elected officials and industry leaders, who toured the facility and learned about its innovative ozone treatment technology. The facility, once fully operational, will use proprietary ozone technology to convert biohazardous material into safe, reusable materials, powered by a solar energy system installed by Energy Select.
The ceremony featured remarks from state and regional leaders, including Maryland Commerce Secretary Harry Coker and Allegany County Commissioner Bill Atkinson. Juli McCoy, President & CEO of the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the facility's role in creating living-wage jobs and its synergy with Frostburg State University. The event also included a certificate of congressional recognition presented on behalf of Congresswoman April McClain Delaney, who praised Clym's pioneering work in environmentally friendly waste management biotechnology.
The Frostburg facility is a key milestone for Clym, which was recently named the Life Sciences Innovation of the Year at the Maryland Tech Council's 2026 ICON Awards. The company's technology generates ozone from ambient air and uses solar energy, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional thermal treatment methods. This approach underscores Clym's commitment to sustainable waste management practices across the healthcare, life sciences, and pharmaceutical industries.
The opening of the facility is expected to bolster economic development in Allegany County by attracting related businesses and supporting the local workforce. According to Jeff Barclay, Director of Allegany County Economic Development, the project aligns with the county's strategy to promote sustainable industries. Kelly Schulz, CEO of the Maryland Tech Council, noted that Clym's innovation exemplifies the state's leadership in environmental technology.
