Coastal Windows & Exteriors, a Beverly-based exterior remodeling company, has marked its 10th consecutive year of donating turkeys to local food pantries, providing 50 turkeys totaling 839 pounds to The Open Door in Gloucester and 25 fixin' bags to Beverly Bootstraps. The donations come as The Open Door reports a 26% surge in food assistance requests since 2024, highlighting growing need among North Shore families.
The initiative, which began in 2015, has now contributed more than 500 turkeys and over $10,000 in direct food support. Each turkey donated to The Open Door carries a tag honoring recent customers of Coastal Windows & Exteriors, symbolizing the partnership between the business and the community. The effort aligns with the concept of "Freedom from Want," a principle articulated by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1941 and famously depicted in Norman Rockwell's 1943 painting of a family gathered around a Thanksgiving table.
Julie LaFontaine, President and CEO of The Open Door, praised the company's commitment.
