Sha-La Music has announced the release of the On E Street Remix EP by US roots rocker DownTown Mystic on April 3. The EP features the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame rhythm section from Bruce Springsteen's legendary E Street Band—drummer 'Mighty' Max Weinberg and bassist Garry Tallent. Distributed worldwide by The Orchard/Sony Music, the EP will drop at Non-Com/College Radio on April 7 with Brandon Day/Tinderbox Music handling radio promotion.
The On E Street Remix EP contains six tracks, including the thought-provoking 'Way To Know,' the emotionally intense 'And You Know Why,' and the lead single 'Hard Enough.' The single has received substantial airplay on worldwide radio, and the 'Hard Enough' video has surpassed 550,000 views on YouTube. Also included is the explosive 'Sometimes Wrong,' remastered by Leon Zervos (Pink, Crowded House), and the brand new instrumental 'And You Know Why (TV Mix).' What makes the release extra special is Weinberg and Tallent recording together as the rhythm section for an artist other than Bruce Springsteen—a true rarity.
DownTown Mystic writer/producer Robert Allen's main goal for the EP was to give the tracks a fresh sound and showcase the brilliance of the two E Streeters. The backstory adds depth: recorded during the same period Weinberg and Tallent were shaping Born In The USA, the EP carries unspoken historical weight. Allen and engineer Joe DeMaio revisited a pivotal moment in Allen's career, remixing the tracks at Shorefire Studios, where they were originally recorded. Allen recalls, 'I was trying to develop as a solo artist when we made these recordings. The experience of playing with Max & Garry changed everything for me.'
The On E Street Remix EP arrives as DownTown Mystic rides a creative wave with releases blending old-school sound with modern rock. His motto 'vintage yet modern' is gaining respect in music circles. Since 2023, his albums AmeriKarma, RnR 4 The Soul, The Wish, and Mystic Highway have attracted over 3 million streams. Music supervisors discovered his work with 'Way To Know,' launching a sync-licensing career with over 250 TV shows, starting with The Voice. In 2025, three songs were placed in the films Sovereign and Everything's Going To Be Great.
The new EP should solidify critical success. Allen adds, 'If you want to make a rock'n'roll statement then who better to do it with? I think E Street is probably the most famous street in rock'n'roll history.' The release underscores why DownTown Mystic's music continues to resonate: as Jamsphere Magazine notes, 'Such sync success is not accidental. It reflects songwriting that translates across contexts, music that carries cinematic weight and emotional clarity.'
