DTLA ArtNight, Downtown Los Angeles's monthly celebration of arts and culture, has announced its largest expansion yet with the official inclusion of the Fashion District, effective August 6, 2026. This move integrates the Fashion District with the existing Grand Avenue and Historic Core corridors, creating a unified cultural experience that spans multiple neighborhoods. The expansion underscores the organization's mission to activate Downtown LA and showcase its diverse creative energy.
The Fashion District, historically known for fashion and design, has evolved into a hub for galleries, artist studios, and creative businesses. Key partners include the Bendix Building, Kelly O'Brien Atelier × Not For Resale LA, CRE8, Mary at The STILE Hotel, and Zenith Gallery. These venues will open their doors to DTLA ArtNight attendees, offering a glimpse into the district's vibrant artistic community. Kelly O'Brien, founder of Kelly O'Brien Atelier, expressed enthusiasm about welcoming visitors into her working studio, highlighting the opportunity to share both process and finished work. CRE8, a four-year-old creative space, sees this partnership as a milestone in bringing awareness and vibrancy to the neighborhood.
The expansion also introduces new programming on Grand Avenue, including a special classical music collaboration between Grand Performances and The Colburn School at Spiral Court. This performance will feature works by composers such as Joseph Bologne, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Astor Piazzolla, reflecting the diversity of classical traditions. Rafael González, President & CEO of Grand Performances, noted that the partnership aims to surprise and inspire audiences while showcasing music that spans cultures and generations.
Additionally, DATALAND, an immersive AI art experience, will join DTLA ArtNight with its inaugural exhibition, "Machine Dreams: Rainforest," a 25,000-square-foot omni-sensory installation. Co-founder Refik Anadol expressed excitement about opening their doors to the public, fulfilling a long-held dream of merging audience and artwork. Visitors will have access to a special promotional booking opportunity through the event.
DTLA ArtNight also features a hands-on photography experience hosted by Samy's Camera and Sony Electronics at Emergent Gallery. Participants can borrow Sony cameras and lenses, photograph the event, and enter a competition with a $2,000 grand prize in Sony gear. Roui Kamienowicz, COO of Samy's Camera, emphasized the goal of bringing people together through photography, while Eric Bruehl of Sony highlighted the opportunity for photographers to experience the latest imaging technology. The historic Biltmore Los Angeles will host photographer Andrei Duman's exhibition "The Art of X Rays," accompanied by live jazz and a book signing.
This expansion represents a significant step in DTLA ArtNight's ongoing effort to connect neighborhoods through arts and culture. By linking the Fashion District with established cultural corridors, the event strengthens Downtown LA's identity as a unified creative community. As Michael Angelo DeLance, President of DTLA ArtNight, stated, "Expanding into the Fashion District is an exciting next step as we continue building one connected Downtown." The August edition promises to offer a richer, more diverse cultural experience, reinforcing DTLA ArtNight's role as a catalyst for community engagement and artistic discovery.
