Edgewater Wireless Systems Inc. (TSXV: YFI) (OTC: KPIFF) announced today that it has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with AirMetal Robotics, an advanced robotics and unmanned systems group, to pursue dual-use wireless opportunities requiring high-reliability, interference-tolerant radio performance. The MOU establishes a framework for evaluating collaboration in unmanned systems, robotics, defence, security, public safety, and critical infrastructure, where resilient wireless connectivity is increasingly mission-critical.
This initiative is part of Edgewater's broader strategy to expand its PrismIQ silicon and Spectrum Slicing architecture beyond traditional Wi-Fi markets into high-value, next-generation communications platforms. The company's technology is designed to mitigate interference and optimize spectrum use in real time, addressing a key challenge in environments where conventional wireless links often fail.

The MOU aligns with increased Canadian federal support for domestic semiconductor, aerospace, autonomous systems, and defence-related innovation, which Edgewater believes strengthens the long-term commercial backdrop for enabling technologies in dual-use and mission-critical applications.
Industry analysts forecast strong growth for drones and the enabling communications stack. The global drone market was valued at approximately US$73.06 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach US$163.60 billion by 2030, according to Grand View Research. Separately, the drone communications segment was valued at approximately US$3.6 billion in 2024 and is expected to reach US$11.6 billion by 2030, as reported by Research and Markets.
Edgewater views the MOU as strategically important for three reasons: it expands the company's addressable market into a rapidly growing segment; reinforces the applicability of Spectrum Slicing in high-reliability environments; and supports its broader strategy to position its silicon and IP platform at the center of next-generation wireless architectures for commercial, industrial, and dual-use use cases.

The MOU is non-binding and intended to support evaluation of potential collaboration opportunities, including technical integration, product planning, commercial structures, and customer engagement strategies.
