Engineer Gold Mines Ltd. (TSX-V: EAU | OTC: EGMLF | WKN: A3EEVJ) has announced that crews, supplies, and equipment have arrived at its 100% owned Engineer Gold Project, situated 30 kilometres southwest of Atlin in northwestern British Columbia. The teams are tasked with re-establishing and rehabilitating the two 20-person camps at the Engineer Mine and TAG Project sites, which have been dormant since 2009 and 2021, respectively. This move is part of the company's strategy to expand its 2026 exploration programs, as outlined in a previous news release dated July 28, 2026.
The significance of this development lies in the operational efficiency it affords. Both camps are already fully constructed and paid for, eliminating the need for significant capital expenditure and reducing the time required to mobilize full exploration teams. President and CEO Spiro Kletas emphasized this advantage: "The fact that both camps are already in place, built and paid for, is an enormous advantage for Engineer Gold Mines and our shareholders. This will allow the Company to have full teams at both sites very shortly and will enable the Company to expedite our exploration programs."
The Engineer Gold Project encompasses approximately 18,319 hectares and is divided into three principal target areas: the historic Engineer Gold Mine, the TAG Property, and the Wann River prospect. The Engineer Gold Mine is a past-producing underground gold-silver operation with historical production between 1910 and 1952 totaling approximately 14,263 tonnes grading 39.4 g/t gold and 19.5 g/t silver (BC Minfile 104M014). A historical Inferred Mineral Resource, defined under National Instrument 43-101, was completed in 2011 and updated in 2018, estimating 25,000 ounces of gold at a grade of 19 g/t using a 5.0 g/t gold cut-off (Snowden, 2011; O'Brien et al., 2018, www.sedarplus.ca). This historical resource is deemed reliable and relevant, demonstrating the property's mineral potential, though a current resource estimate will require additional drilling and review.
The TAG Property, located approximately 6 kilometres north of the Engineer Mine, is associated with a 6-kilometre-long structurally controlled mineralized system related to splays off the Llewellyn Fault. Significant historical diamond drill intervals include 1.7 g/t Au and 5.1 g/t Ag over 26.7 metres (including 3.52 g/t Au over 4.7 metres) in hole TAG06-23, and 1.5 g/t Au and 8.05 g/t Ag over 42.1 metres in hole TAG08-59 (Fekete and Simper, 2009; ARIS reports #30931 and #29581).
The Wann River prospect, located 4 kilometres south of the Engineer Mine, represents an orogenic gold target associated with the Llewellyn Fault. It has yielded significant surface samples, including a quartz grab sample of 263 g/t gold and 1,350 g/t silver from the Lum showing (Aspinall, 2011; ARIS Report #32004). Historic drilling in 2011 returned notable intervals such as 11.3 g/t Au and 76.2 g/t Ag over 1 metre in hole WR030211 (Aspinall, 2011; BC ARIS Report #32478).
The rehabilitation of the camps is a strategic move that positions Engineer Gold Mines to capitalize on the project's substantial exploration upside. By utilizing existing infrastructure, the company can allocate more resources directly to drilling and other exploration activities, potentially accelerating the path to resource delineation and development. This efficiency is particularly valuable in the current market, where cost management and timely execution are critical for junior mining companies.
