EPH Group AG, a Vienna-based investment and development company, has signed purchase agreements for a roughly 2.6-hectare property in Central Burgenland, Austria, where it plans to develop an exclusive five-star resort with around 300 beds. The project, advanced through wholly owned subsidiary EPH BGL GmbH, is designed to combine contemporary luxury with the region's wine culture, cuisine, and landscape, positioning Burgenland as a year-round destination for upscale international travelers.
The resort concept includes a spacious wellness area, private lodges set among vineyards with their own pools and private wellness facilities, a rooftop restaurant with panoramic views, a wine tavern known as a Heuriger, and a dedicated wine and culinary experience. Its proximity to a renowned thermal spa and a golf course further broadens the leisure offering. The setting, with views across Burgenland's rolling hills toward Hungary, is intended to become a defining element of the architectural and tourism experience.
For the region, the implications extend beyond hospitality. EPH Group expects the resort to operate largely independently of seasons, strengthening year-round tourism and generating long-term economic momentum. Direct jobs at the resort would be complemented by benefits for regional hospitality and wine-growing businesses, producers, craft companies, service providers, and other tourism operators. "Burgenland combines a unique landscape with a rich tradition of wine and culinary culture, creating ideal conditions for discerning year-round tourism," said Yasmin Wilfling, Member of the Management Board of EPH Group AG. "With our resort, we want to bring these distinctive qualities together in an internationally positioned luxury hotel concept."
The project also reflects EPH Group's broader strategy of developing hotel real estate in the DACH region. Founded in 2023, the company has built a pipeline of ten projects in Austria and Germany, typically developing hotel projects to construction readiness and realizing selected projects itself. For hotel operations, it plans to cooperate with an internationally renowned operator, as it has done with other projects. Shares in EPH Group AG have traded on the Open Market of the Stuttgart Stock Exchange since 2025, on the Primary Market of the Duesseldorf Stock Exchange since 2026, and began trading on the Open Market of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and on Xetra in May 2026. Further information about the company and its projects is available at https://eph-group.com/en.
However, the project remains conditional. The purchase agreements are subject to conditions precedent, notably the acquisition of the property requires a final and binding building permit for the planned resort. The project will be advanced step by step in accordance with local framework conditions, meaning timelines and final approvals are not yet guaranteed. If realized, the resort would add a significant luxury asset to Austria's tourism landscape and test whether an internationally positioned, wine-and-culinary-led concept can drive demand across all seasons in a region traditionally associated with warmer-month travel. For EPH Group, it represents both an expansion of its hospitality portfolio and a bet on Burgenland's ability to compete for high-spending guests alongside established alpine and urban destinations.
