Falcon Energy Materials Opens Pilot Plant in Morocco, Advancing Battery Anode Supply Chain Outside China

Falcon Energy Materials plc (TSX-V: FLCN) (OTCQB: FLCNF) announced the opening of its pilot plant near Casablanca, Morocco, a milestone in the company's plan to produce high-purity coated spheronized purified graphite (CSPG) for the global battery industry. The plant, which has been relocated and installed after pre-commissioning, will produce qualification-scale CSPG samples for potential customers and generate critical operating data, workforce training, and process design criteria for Falcon's proposed 25,000 tonnes per annum commercial-scale anode facility.

According to the company, the pilot plant represents the first natural graphite CSPG pilot facility in Morocco. Commissioning is underway, and qualification-scale samples are expected to be produced this summer. The facility will support sample qualification programs previously announced and provide a platform for optimizing the CSPG production process. The operating knowledge and data generated are expected to de-risk and accelerate development of the commercial anode plant.

Matthieu Bos, President and CEO of Falcon, stated: “The opening of our Pilot Plant in Morocco is a defining milestone for Falcon. It marks our transition from planning and procurement to operational execution and advances our goal of building a competitive battery anode supply chain outside of China.” He added that the facility allows Falcon to produce qualification-scale samples while generating the operating experience and process data needed to advance the commercial plant.

The pilot plant is a critical scale-up from laboratory and bench-scale testing. Beyond producing qualification material, it serves as a training platform for plant operators, with procedures expected to be transferable to the commercial facility. Falcon is preparing CSPG samples from premium natural graphite feedstock sourced from Africa for evaluation by original equipment manufacturers and battery producers. The company continues to test alternative high-quality sources to ensure a scalable, reliable supply.

Falcon aims to become a premier provider of natural CSPG, a key component for energy storage solutions. The company is developing a state-of-the-art 25 ktpa CSPG production facility in Morocco, leveraging strategic partnerships with technology firms and Moroccan partners. Factors such as access to high-quality raw materials, advanced technology, and a prime geographical location are expected to enable consistent, high-quality supply to global markets.
