The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) announced that the fifth edition of International Healthcare Week will take place from 11 to 31 May 2026. The event includes two flagship gatherings: the sixth Asia Summit on Global Health (ASGH) on 11-12 May and the 17th Hong Kong International Medical and Healthcare Fair (Medical Fair) on 11-13 May, both at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The events aim to provide a comprehensive business platform covering the entire medical and healthcare industry chain, from technology R&D and investment matching to medical equipment manufacturing and services.
The ASGH, jointly organized by the Hong Kong SAR Government and the HKTDC, will feature over 180 exhibitors from 11 countries and regions, including delegations from Australia, Finland, the UK, Xiamen, and Jiangsu. The summit's theme, “Fuelling Healthcare Breakthroughs,” will address high-growth areas such as biopharmaceuticals, AI-empowered healthcare, the silver economy, and modernization of traditional Chinese medicine. Notable speakers include 2013 Nobel Prize Laureate in Chemistry Professor Michael Levitt, who will share insights on the transformative impact of technology on future healthcare and scientific research.
The Medical Fair, organized by the HKTDC and co-organized by the Hong Kong MedTech Association, will gather some 300 exhibitors from 10 countries and regions, including new participants from Macao, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Vietnam, and the United States. The fair will focus on three key categories: MedTech, GeronTech, and Preventive Healthcare. Highlights include a smart health wearable watch combining Chinese and Western medicine, an AR surgical platform for orthopaedic surgeons, and a world-first smart knee brace integrating AI and wearable technology.
Sophia Chong, Executive Director of the HKTDC, emphasized that the events align with the National 15th Five-Year Plan's health development priorities. “Hong Kong, by leveraging its preeminence as an international financial centre, its world-class research ecosystem and its unique positioning bridging the Chinese Mainland and the world, serves as an ideal platform for scientific excellence, strategic investment and financing, and international trade for medical and healthcare innovation,” she said.
The summit will also feature dedicated sessions on the silver economy, AI in healthcare, and traditional Chinese medicine innovation. The “GoGlobal Connect” Zone and Business of Healthcare Advisory Zone will provide enterprises with professional advice on overseas expansion, fundraising, and R&D collaboration. The Medical Fair will adopt an “EXHIBITION+” hybrid model, with a Click2Match smart business matching platform available from 4 May to 20 May.
