FleetCollect Launches AI Connector for Truckers to Query IFTA, DOT, and Carrier Data via ChatGPT and Claude

FleetCollect, a compliance software platform for owner-operators and small fleets, has unveiled a new AI connector that integrates with popular AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT. This tool allows users to query their IFTA fuel tax records, DOT compliance status, and carrier data using natural language, simplifying a traditionally cumbersome process.

For many small carriers, vital operational information is scattered across quarterly IFTA reports, driver files, and federal databases. The new connector eliminates the need to navigate multiple screens by enabling users to ask questions directly and receive instant, plain-language answers from their own FleetCollect data. For instance, truckers can inquire about state-specific IFTA miles, upcoming document expirations for drivers, dispatch load counts, or drug-testing status without manual data retrieval.

Beyond a carrier's own records, the connector leverages live FMCSA data to vet other motor carriers by USDOT or MC number. This feature provides brokers and dispatchers with immediate access to a partner's operating authority, insurance, and safety information, thereby enhancing due diligence without leaving the conversation.

Security and privacy are paramount in the design of this connector. All 14 tools are strictly read-only, ensuring that AI assistants can summarize and analyze data but cannot modify, delete, or initiate actions. Moreover, driver personally identifiable information—such as emails, phone numbers, and license numbers—is filtered out and never returned. Access is scoped to the authenticated account, so users see only their own data. The connector employs OAuth 2.1 with Dynamic Client Registration and PKCE, aligning with modern security standards, and users can revoke access at any time.

Herman Armstrong, founder of FleetCollect, emphasized the practical benefits: "Owner-operators didn't get into trucking to click through dashboards. We built this so a driver can just ask—'what do I owe in IFTA,' 'which of my guys is about to expire,' 'is this carrier legit'—and get a straight answer from their own numbers. We made it read-only and privacy-filtered on purpose: it answers questions, it doesn't touch your data."

The connector is available immediately to FleetCollect subscribers and has been submitted for inclusion in the Claude connector directory and the ChatGPT app directory. Operators can connect using the server URL https://app.fleetcollect.net/mcp, with further details at https://fleetcollect.net/developers.

This innovation arrives as the trucking industry increasingly adopts artificial intelligence to streamline administrative tasks. By integrating AI with critical compliance data, FleetCollect positions itself at the forefront of this trend. The ability to query live FMCSA data also introduces a new dimension of real-time transparency for business partnerships.

The introduction of this AI connector could significantly reduce time spent on administrative duties for small fleets, allowing drivers and owners to focus on core operations. With its robust privacy measures and read-only architecture, the tool addresses common concerns about AI data handling, potentially setting a precedent for future integrations in the transportation sector.
