Nutritional Products International (NPI), the Boca Raton-based global brand management and distribution company, has appointed former Walmart executive Hemant Agrahari as President. Agrahari most recently served as Director of Sourcing at Walmart's Bentonville, Arkansas headquarters, where he worked within the retailer's Health & Wellness sourcing organization. The move matters because it places a former retail buyer at the helm of a firm that prepares health and wellness brands for placement with major U.S. retailers, potentially streamlining the path from brand onboarding to shelf space.
As President, Agrahari will lead NPI's retail strategy and brand onboarding, working with the domestic and international health and wellness brands NPI represents to prepare them for retail opportunities and help secure placement with leading U.S. retailers. NPI Founder and CEO Mitch Gould will continue to oversee the company's long-term strategic direction and retail industry relationships, working alongside Agrahari to expand NPI's reach and capabilities. The division of responsibilities suggests NPI is separating day-to-day retail execution from long-term strategy, a structure that could allow the company to scale its brand portfolio more efficiently.
"I've known Hemant for some time now, and I'm very excited for him to join Nutritional Products International and take our company to the next level," said Mitch Gould, Founder and CEO of NPI. "He spent years on the buy side at Walmart headquarters, and he knows exactly what a buyer needs to see. That perspective is going to be a tremendous advantage for every brand we represent." That buyer-side perspective is central to why the appointment carries weight: brands often fail at retail not because of product quality but because they are unprepared for the specific demands of retail buyers.
Agrahari brings more than 15 years of experience across the pharmaceutical, health and wellness, and mass-retail sourcing industries. At Walmart Sourcing, he rose from Senior Manager of Health & Wellness Sourcing to Director of Sourcing, evaluating suppliers, negotiating programs, and helping shape how nutritional products reach Walmart shelves and customers. Before Walmart, he spent five years in Accenture's management consulting practice advising clients on sourcing, procurement, and supply chain strategy. He began his career in supply chain and strategic sourcing roles at leading pharmaceutical companies, including Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Hikal Ltd, and Novartis Healthcare. A chemical engineer by training, he holds a Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi.
"I've seen thousands of brands come across a buyer's desk, and the ones that succeed are the ones that arrive prepared," said Agrahari. "NPI has spent decades getting brands ready for retail and getting them on the shelf. I'm excited to join Mitch and the team and help our clients grow at Walmart and across every major retail channel." His comment underscores the operational gap NPI aims to fill: preparation, not just promotion, determines retail success.
NPI's Evolution of Distribution® model gives brands a single outsourced team for sales, retail distribution, logistics, regulatory support, Amazon, and marketing, built on long-standing experience working with major U.S. retailers, including Walmart, Costco, GNC, CVS, Walgreens, Amazon, and Vitamin Shoppe. Agrahari's appointment strengthens NPI's leadership team by bringing direct experience from the retail sourcing side of the business, complementing the company's established expertise in helping consumer brands navigate the complexities of entering and expanding in the U.S. marketplace. For brands weighing how to approach retail, the implication is that NPI can now offer guidance shaped by someone who has sat on the other side of the negotiating table at the nation's largest retailer.
