Frontieras North America Signs LOI for Multi-Phase FASForm Deployment at Cora Terminal in Illinois

Frontieras North America, an energy and environmental technology company, has announced a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Cora Terminal, LLC—a joint venture between Watco Companies, LLC and SCH Services, LLC—for the phased development of FASForm™ production capacity at the Cora Terminal in Rockwood, Illinois. This agreement represents a strategic move to expand the company's footprint and commercialize its patented FASForm Solid Carbon Fractionation technology, which converts coal into clean fuels, fertilizers, and industrial chemicals through a zero-waste process.

Under the proposed structure, Frontieras would initially lease approximately 85 acres for a plant designed to process 7,500 tons of coal feedstock per day. A subsequent expansion would add roughly 130 acres for a second plant, bringing the total site to about 215 acres. At full buildout, the facility would receive approximately 5.5 million net tons of coal feedstock annually and ship products including FASCarbon™, ultra-low-sulfur diesel, jet fuel, ammonium sulfate fertilizer, sulfuric acid, and naphtha. Such outputs could significantly impact regional energy independence and agricultural supply chains, providing a domestic source of clean fuels and fertilizers while reducing waste from coal processing.

The Cora project would be Frontieras' third announced commercial site, following its $850 million first commercial facility currently under construction in Mason County, West Virginia. The Cora Terminal is particularly well-suited for this venture, as it can accommodate up to four unit trains simultaneously, has the capability to move more than 11 million tons of coal annually, and owns over 300 acres of developable land surrounding the terminal. This infrastructure ensures efficient logistics and raw material supply, which are critical for large-scale operations.

According to the LOI, the parties will pursue site due diligence, engineering, permitting, infrastructure assessment, and definitive lease and transportation agreements. However, the LOI is an expression of mutual intent and is not a binding commitment to proceed. Any definitive agreements are subject to due diligence, permitting, financing, and required approvals. This cautious approach mitigates risks and underscores the complexity of large industrial projects.

The importance of this announcement lies in Frontieras' potential to redefine coal utilization globally. By converting coal into valuable products without waste, the company addresses environmental concerns associated with traditional coal use while meeting demands for cleaner energy and essential chemicals. If successful, the Cora project could serve as a model for repurposing coal-rich regions, creating jobs and economic development while lowering greenhouse gas emissions compared to conventional coal combustion.

Frontieras is headquartered in Houston, Texas, and recently completed its Regulation A+ public offering. The company's progress in West Virginia and now this LOI in Illinois signal momentum in scaling its technology. The Cora Terminal's strategic location in the Midwest could facilitate distribution to major agricultural and industrial markets, enhancing the viability of FASForm products.

For investors and stakeholders, this development is a key indicator of Frontieras' growth trajectory. The phased approach allows for measured expansion based on performance and market conditions. The successful execution of this project could position Frontieras as a leader in clean coal technology, with implications for energy policy, environmental sustainability, and economic development in coal-dependent regions.

As Frontieras moves forward with due diligence and engineering, the industry will watch closely. The potential to transform coal from a carbon-intensive fuel into a source of clean energy and materials is profound, and this collaboration with Cora Terminal is a significant step toward that goal.
