Julia Pieri, a student at Florida State University, has been named the recipient of the Community Impact Through Animal Service Scholarship from Blakeley Car Accident & Personal Injury Lawyers. The scholarship, which awards $2,000 to a student who demonstrates exceptional commitment to helping animals in need, was inspired by Pieri's selfless care for a foster dog named Zeke.
Pieri took over the responsibility of caring for Zeke after her friend, who was his original foster parent, fell ill. Her dedication to maintaining Zeke's stability during a transitional period in his life impressed the selection committee. "Helping care for Zeke also showed me how important foster networks are for rescue animals," Pieri said. Beyond her animal welfare efforts, Pieri is pursuing dual degrees in Accounting and Economics with a minor in Commercial Entrepreneurship at Florida State University. She is also active in pageants and advocates for breast cancer research, and volunteers with the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. Her professional aspirations include a summer 2026 internship as a Receivable Intern at SBA Communications and a planned Tax Intern position at CohnReznick in 2027. After graduation, she intends to pursue a Master's degree and sit for the CPA exam, aiming to specialize in tax and public accounting.
