Great American Media Launches Pure Flix Familia to Serve Latino Families

Great American Media is deepening its commitment to Latino audiences with the launch of Pure Flix Familia, a streaming service designed specifically for families seeking entertainment that reflects their faith, culture, and values. The platform debuts during Hispanic Heritage Month and ahead of the Christmas season, offering Spanish-language programming that will expand to include English and bilingual content. The move matters because it acknowledges the diversity of the Latino experience and provides an alternative to mainstream streaming options that often overlook faith-based, family-friendly storytelling.

According to Nielsen's 2025 Diverse Intelligence Series report, U.S. Hispanics hold more than $4.1 trillion in purchasing power and spend 55.8% of their television time streaming, compared with 46% for the overall U.S. population. This represents a significant market opportunity that Great American Media aims to capture with a Total Latino Market strategy. Rather than defining viewers solely by language, the company will serve Spanish-dominant, bilingual, and English-dominant audiences through a broad spectrum of content connected by culture and family. As Bill Abbott, President and CEO of Great American Media, explained, "Faith and family are at the heart of Great American Media, and those values have deep roots within the Latino community."

Pure Flix Familia will launch with a mix of original, licensed, and Spanish-dubbed movies, series, and faith-centered storytelling. The debut slate includes the original microdrama Alquilé Un Novio Para Navidad, a Christmas romcom produced in association with Minivela, the Latino media company co-founded by Manny Ruiz and Carlos Ponce. Ponce noted that families "shouldn't have to choose between stories that authentically reflect their culture and entertainment they feel good about bringing into their homes." This partnership signals a commitment to authentic representation and quality production.

Beyond initial programming, the service will support Latino filmmakers through a national call for feature and short films centered on family or faith, in partnership with Chicano Hollywood and Latino film festival leaders. Selected projects may be licensed or acquired, creating new pathways for independent producers. This initiative could foster a pipeline of culturally authentic content and elevate Latino voices in the entertainment industry.

The launch also leverages Great American Media's strengths in Christmas programming, with an extensive collection of holiday movies and series available on Great American Pure Flix, giving Pure Flix Familia a strong foundation for serving families during the holidays. The U.S. debut is the first step in a longer-term vision to reach audiences in Latin America and Spain, building a global Latino faith and family entertainment brand. Additional details on subscription options and device availability will be announced in the coming weeks.

This expansion underscores the growing recognition of Latino consumers' economic and cultural influence. By investing in tailored content, Great American Media is positioning itself as a leader in inclusive entertainment and setting a precedent for other media companies to follow.
