Greene Fellowship Expands to Western North Carolina, Awards $100,000 in Unrestricted Grants

The Greene Fellowship, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing contemporary art through direct financial support and professional development, has announced $100,000 in total funding to be awarded to artists in Colorado and Western North Carolina for the 2026 award cycle. The fellowship will select two artists to receive an unrestricted grant of $50,000 each, supporting their creative practice and career development. Previously limited to Colorado, this expansion marks the organization's first year supporting artists in Western North Carolina, broadening its regional impact and commitment to artist sustainability.

In addition to financial support, fellows will receive access to mentorship opportunities, professional development resources, and community-building support designed to foster long-term growth and connection within the arts ecosystem. "By expanding into Western North Carolina, we are deepening our commitment to artists working in diverse regional contexts and recognizing the vital role they play in their communities," said Hannah Agosta, Executive Director of The Greene Fellowship. "Our goal is to provide flexible, trust-based funding that allows artists to maintain their autonomy and creative freedom."

Applications are now open and must be submitted through CallforEntry.org. The application deadline is January 15, 2026, at 11:59 PM MT. For eligibility details, application guidelines, and additional information, visit www.greenefellowship.com.

Founded in 2022 in memory of Bradford W. Greene, the fellowship's mission is to support visionary artists in the United States in creating meaningful and boundary-pushing work, and to carve spaces for them to share this work within their communities, inspiring creativity and cultural discourse. The fellowship equips artists with foundational skills and knowledge to achieve sustainability in their careers, leading to a richer, more equitable, and resilient arts sector. This expansion into Western North Carolina underscores the organization's commitment to supporting artists in diverse regional contexts, recognizing their vital role in their communities.
