Heliostar Metals Ltd (TSXV: HSTR) has reported a robust second quarter, with record gold production and a strengthened cash position that bolsters its path to the development of the Ana Paula project. The company's operational performance, particularly at San Agustin and La Colorada, has solidified its near-term financial footing, while strategic initiatives at Ana Paula and the recently acquired Goldstrike project promise to extend its growth trajectory.
During the quarter, Heliostar achieved a 26% quarter-over-quarter increase in gold production, reaching a record 14,803 ounces. This operational uptick translated into revenue of $56.5 million and mine operating earnings of $31.1 million. Despite a $10 million initial payment for the Goldstrike acquisition, the company's cash balance grew to $43.0 million, underscoring the strength of its operating cash flow. The improved cash position provides a clearer bridge to fund Ana Paula's development, reducing financing uncertainty.
San Agustin's attainment of steady-state production and La Colorada's consistent low-cost output have been pivotal. These operations not only support current cash generation but also demonstrate the company's ability to execute on its production plans. The sequential decline in net income was primarily due to non-operational factors, including the annual option grant, higher taxes, and foreign exchange fluctuations, rather than any deterioration in mine performance.
Looking ahead, near-mine reserve growth is expected to enhance production visibility beyond 2026. At Ana Paula, the Feasibility Study remains on track for the second quarter of 2027, with the underground permit submission anticipated in Q3 and first gold targeted before the end of 2028. The project's Expansion Zone presents additional upside beyond the current development case, though permitting and project financing remain key execution risks.
The acquisition of Goldstrike adds 1.065 million ounces of attributable gold resources, along with emerging antimony optionality. Surface work has confirmed mineralization at Antimony Ridge and identified the new Antimony Knoll target 1.7 kilometers to the west. An initial drilling program of approximately 1,500 meters is underway, with results expected in Q4 2026. Goldstrike broadens Heliostar's longer-term pipeline, although the remaining staged purchase consideration should be consistently factored into valuation assessments.
Key milestones to monitor include reserve conversion at existing operations, the execution of the Veta Madre vein at San Agustin, and the advancement of Ana Paula's permitting process. The company's ability to deliver on these fronts will be critical in unlocking further value from its asset portfolio.
