Hinggan League's Agricultural, Cultural and Tourism Consumption Carnival Opens in Beijing, Showcasing Regional Brands

The Hinggan League Agricultural, Cultural and Tourism Consumption Carnival, themed "Taste the Best of Hinggan Discover the Grasslands in Beijing," officially kicked off in Beijing, marking a significant step in promoting the region's premium ecological products to national and international markets. The event brought together buyers, cultural and tourism professionals, and media from across the country, offering a comprehensive showcase of Hinggan League's eco-friendly agricultural and livestock products.

Central to the carnival were the beef cattle and rice industries, which drew considerable attention from market players seeking partnerships. Hinggan League, situated in the golden latitude belt for agriculture and animal husbandry, has leveraged its natural advantages to coordinate the development of these two key sectors. The region has implemented an industrial upgrade spanning the entire value chain, from breeding stock and forage to farming, processing, and branding, as part of its strategy to promote green development and increase local incomes.

In the beef cattle industry, Hinggan League has made significant strides by introducing national-level cattle breeding technology enterprises and establishing its first national-level bull breeding station. This facility produces over 5.5 million doses of frozen semen from high-quality breeds such as Simmental and Angus annually, distributed across China. The region has also improved its technical service system through a tiered extension-agent approach and on-site guidance, helping herders adopt more scientific practices. Forage supply has been bolstered by the Forage Industry Processing, Logistics and Trading Park in Keyouzhong Banner, which processes crop straw into high-quality forage. Additionally, research teams have developed fermented feed using microbial technology, reducing daily feeding costs per head and securing the industry's "first mile."

On the sales and branding front, Hinggan League's beef cattle industry is transitioning from selling live cattle to selling brands. The region has cultivated large-scale meat processing enterprises, developed over 100 product categories for e-commerce and foodservice channels, and established a livestreaming e-commerce operations center. Marketing centers and forward warehouses have been set up in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and regional public brands like "Keyouzhong Banner Beef" have been officially launched, completing a modern beef cattle industry chain.

The rice industry follows a similar full-chain approach. The pristine ecology of clean water, soil, and air contributes to the fragrant, glutinous, and sweet taste of Hinggan League rice. Local research teams have spent over 30 years developing and registering 21 high-quality rice varieties, benefiting thousands of farming households annually. In Duerji Town, Keyouzhong Banner, rice cooperatives have adopted a model of unified planting, processing, and sales, developing their own brands and securing reliable sales channels through contract farming and online/offline sales. In Zhalaite Banner, returnee entrepreneurs introduced integrated fertigation technology using drip irrigation beneath plastic film, enabling rice cultivation on "dry land" with water savings of 700 cubic meters per mu. As rice enters the critical field management period, technicians and farmers are implementing precise water and fertilizer management and green pest control to ensure stable high yields.

The cattle and rice industries, though seemingly separate, are part of a coordinated strategy. The concentrated beef cattle breeding and finishing base in Zhalaite Banner, operated by a state-owned enterprise, has increased collective village income. Meanwhile, 38 enterprises authorized to use the "Hinggan League Rice" brand adhere to nine established standards, driving the brand value beyond RMB 31 billion. This integrated approach has transformed the grassland's ecological advantages into industrial strengths, making "cattle and rice" pillars of prosperity for the people and development across the league.
