HKCEC Hosts 25 New Events, Secures Landmark Debuts and Long-Term Commitments

The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) has solidified its position as a premier global venue, hosting 786 events in the 2025–2026 financial year, including 128 exhibitions, 81 international and local conferences, and numerous corporate meetings, banquets, and entertainment events. The year was marked by 25 new conferences and exhibitions, several making their Hong Kong or Asian debuts, which together attracted over 7.7 million attendees. This achievement underscores Hong Kong's role as an international convention and exhibition hub and highlights the venue's strategic importance in driving economic growth and international exchange.

Ms Monica Lee-Müller, Managing Director of Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Limited (HML), attributed the success to Hong Kong's unique advantage as a gateway between Chinese Mainland and the world. She emphasized HML's focus on four key sectors—Medical, Innovation and Technology, Finance, and Education—which secured landmark debuts. "We are thrilled that these inaugural events were met with resounding success and have already confirmed their return to the HKCEC next year," she said. This strategic alignment not only empowers Mainland enterprises to go global but also attracts international investment, creating a powerful engine for Hong Kong's long-term economic growth.

Among the standout debuts was the inaugural Hong Kong Comic Con 2026, which demonstrated the immense appeal of launching major international intellectual properties in the city. The event generated substantial economic value and business opportunities, prompting organizers to confirm its return in 2027. This success story exemplifies how Hong Kong can serve as a launchpad for global brands seeking to tap into Asian markets. For more information about the venue, visit http://www.hkcec.com.

The HKCEC also reinforced Hong Kong's standing as an international health and medical innovation hub. The 9th World Congress of Pediatric Cardiology & Cardiac Surgery brought together leading experts and over 3,000 global participants, underscoring the city's professional medical standing. Additionally, the 15th China Chest Pain Centers Congress marked the first time this national medical association convention was held in Hong Kong. These events showcase the HKCEC as a two-way platform for national healthcare standards and Mainland enterprises' global expansion.

Asia's flagship events have reaffirmed their commitment to Hong Kong. Art Basel Hong Kong, held annually at the HKCEC since 2013, has reached an agreement with the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau to designate Hong Kong as the sole Asian venue for the next four years. Meanwhile, Vinexpo Asia, a premier wine and spirits trade event since 1998, is ending its rotation with Singapore and will make Hong Kong its home starting in 2027. These long-term commitments signal sustained confidence in Hong Kong's event infrastructure and its ability to attract high-value international gatherings.

Looking ahead, HML continues to secure prestigious events, including the inaugural LEAP East in July, the Global Unicorn Summit in August, and the World Cancer Congress 2026 in September. Later this year, the Amazing Toy Show Hong Kong 2026 will debut in December. By continuously introducing high-profile global events, HML enriches Hong Kong's vibrant events landscape and further cements its status as a leading convention and exhibition hub.
