The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) opened the 36th Food Expo, Beauty & Wellness Expo, and Home Delights Expo today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Running concurrently from 13 to 17 August, the fairs bring together more than 1,850 exhibitors from over 30 countries and regions, creating a vibrant marketplace spanning food, tea, home living, beauty, and wellness. Under the central theme “Live Well. Stay Well,” the exhibitions aim to promote healthier, happier, and more balanced lifestyles.
At the opening ceremony, Dr Jonathan Choi, HKTDC Council Member, highlighted the integration of wellness into daily life: “Wellness has become an integral part of everyday life. It is reflected in the food and beverages we enjoy, the way we care for our home and how we nurture our physical and mental well-being.” Sophia Chong, HKTDC Executive Director, emphasized Hong Kong’s role as a bridge connecting the Chinese Mainland and international markets, supporting the high-quality development of the food and health industries.
The fairs feature Five Themed Days to encourage quality living. On “Happy Eat Happy Life” (13 August), visitors can explore wellness-focused products such as cistanche health drinks, ready-to-eat bird’s nest, and organic dried blueberries. The Home Delights Expo showcases a high-speed food processor for texture-modified meals, while the Beauty & Wellness Expo offers free health assessments, including traditional Chinese wellness consultations.
“The World in Blink” (14 August) focuses on global delicacies, including South African honey, Finnair’s inflight chocolates, and Chiu Chow style foie gras toast. Asian flavours include pandan chiffon cakes from Singapore and Korean probiotic yoghurt. The Beauty & Wellness Expo features innovative beauty devices and clear aligners.
On “Coffee or Tea?” (15 August), the Coffee Zone returns with Yunnan’s truffle-flavoured drip coffee, Myanmar Arabica beans, and Hong Kong ginger sparkling coffee. The Hong Kong International Tea Fair presents rare teas such as purple bud raw Pu'er tea and matcha from Guizhou and Zhejiang. New zones include the Yixing Zisha Teaware Pavilion and a “Tea Lifestyle” zone with innovative tea beverages.
“Stay Fresh, Stay Ahead” (16 August) spotlights premium fresh produce, with the new “Hong Kong Harvest” brand and pavilions from Chinese Mainland regions. The Gourmet Zone celebrates its 15th edition with 15 star chefs demonstrating exquisite dishes, and a commemorative recipe book is available to participants.
The final day, “Let’s Chill” (17 August), introduces the “Stay Relax” zone with red-light therapy pods and the “Go Sleep Exp” exhibit exploring sleep health. A new Dessert and Gelato Theme offers over 100 desserts and speciality ice cream flavours.
For trade visitors, Food Expo PRO introduces a “Meat Zone” and a “Food Science and Technology Zone” focusing on alternative foods. For the first time, pet food products are featured, with a Hong Kong exhibitor using patented packaging technology. The halal food section has expanded to over 130 exhibitors.
The International Conference on the Modernization of Chinese Medicine & Health Products (ICMCM) also commenced, expanded to three days, focusing on “Clinical Translation, Regulatory Policies and Global Innovative Pathways.” The conference facilitates international exchange and supports Hong Kong’s role in Chinese medicine development.
To celebrate HKTDC’s 60th anniversary, special promotions include free admission before noon for the first 600 visitors daily, “6”-themed offers, and lucky draws with prizes worth over HK$1 million. The fairs are open to the public with various ticket options, including morning and evening admission tickets. The exhibitions underscore Hong Kong’s position as a global hub for food and wellness, offering a platform for cross-border collaboration and innovation.
