Hong Kong-Led GoGlobal Task Force Delegation to Visit Canada to Boost Mainland Enterprises' Global Expansion

Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK), a member of the Task Force on Supporting Mainland Enterprises in Going Global (GoGlobal Task Force), will lead a seven-day delegation to Canada starting September 20, 2026. The mission, announced on September 18, 2026, is designed to support Mainland enterprises in expanding their global business and to attract Canadian companies in strategic sectors to invest in Hong Kong.

Led by Ms Loretta Lee, Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion at InvestHK, the delegation comprises Chinese Mainland companies specializing in sustainability and life and health sciences. The visit will cover Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton, three key Canadian cities known for their strengths in green technology and life sciences. The initiative is part of a series of outbound missions supervised by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development.

The visit aims to help Mainland enterprises understand local ecosystems and precisely align their go-global needs. At the same time, it seeks to attract Canadian businesses in these strategic sectors to invest in Hong Kong, thereby driving new growth impetus. This dual approach highlights Hong Kong's role as a super-connector between Mainland China and the world, facilitating two-way investment flows and collaboration.

Ms Lee emphasized Canada's strengths: "Canada is globally recognised for its exceptional research talent, clean technology leadership, and established life sciences ecosystem. As more Mainland green technology and life and health sciences enterprises pursue international growth through Hong Kong, they bring not only capital and access to one of the world's largest markets, but also serve as ideal partners for Canadian companies seeking to explore Asia and beyond. We are keen to build fresh synergies with Canadian businesses to strengthen innovation, collaboration, and investment flows."

During the visit, the delegation will meet with local institutions, chambers of commerce, and industry associations. They will also hold targeted discussions with leading Canadian green tech and healthcare enterprises, visit universities and research parks, and take part in sector-specific roundtables and business networking sessions. These activities are designed to create concrete business opportunities and partnerships.

The mission matters because it underscores Hong Kong's strategic position as a gateway for Mainland enterprises going global and for foreign businesses entering Asia. By focusing on sustainability and life and health sciences, the delegation targets sectors critical to future economic growth and innovation. The visit could lead to increased investment flows between Canada and Hong Kong, technology transfer, and joint ventures that benefit both regions.
